📅 Project Timeline

June 2026
In the bustling town center of San Jacinto, Chiquimula, young voices filled the air at Escuela de Parvulos Anexa as three new tablets arrived at their doorstep. For many of these preschoolers, this was their first glimpse into the digital world—a world that urban children often take for granted. The excitement was palpable as tiny hands reached out to touch the screens, their eyes wide with wonder at the interactive learning possibilities now within their reach. These tablets represent more than just technology; they're opening doors to early childhood development opportunities that can transform these children's educational journey from the very beginning. In a community where resources are often stretched thin, providing access to engaging, interactive learning tools gives these young students a crucial head start. Teachers can now incorporate digital storytelling, basic literacy games, and visual learning activities that make education come alive for children who are just beginning to discover the joy of learning. Thanks to supporters like you, we're not just delivering devices—we're investing in the educational foundation of San Jacinto's youngest learners, ensuring they have the tools they need to build brighter futures for themselves and their community.

About the Community

The population is 1,037, according to the Ministry of Health. The urban area serves as the main administrative and service center for the region. Its economy is more diversified than that of the villages, based on formal and informal commerce, the provision of government services, and the receipt of remittances, although it maintains a strong connection to the collection and distribution of regional agricultural production. In the educational sphere, it concentrates the provision of secondary and vocational education (such as INED), receiving students from various rural communities seeking technical training. Healthcare is centralized at the local Health Center, which coordinates epidemiological surveillance and urban sanitation campaigns. Mobility is fluid compared to rural areas, with paved roads that facilitate the constant transit of motorcycle taxis and heavy transport vehicles connecting to the route to Chiquimula and Esquipulas. Current urban development focuses on the modernization of public buildings, solid waste management, and the improvement of school infrastructure to meet the growing demand of the urban student population.
