Before your generous support, our community center lacked the adequate infrastructure needed to provide essential services. The environment simply wasn't suitable for proper service delivery, which directly restricted our local health and community support programs. Thanks to you, we have successfully upgraded the facilities to make them safer, more functional, and highly efficient! This project ensures that we can now deliver community services with the care and quality people deserve. Moving forward, families will have access to vital health programs in a safe, welcoming environment strengthening local development and overall well-being. Thank you for investing in the heart of this community.

About the Community

The village of La Majada, located in the municipality of San Jacinto, Chiquimula, is situated in a hot and dry climate, characteristic of the Guatemalan Dry Corridor region. With a population of 1,872, its economy is based on subsistence farming, primarily focused on corn and bean cultivation, as well as small-scale livestock raising and local trade. In terms of education, the village has primary and preschool facilities that serve as a community center. Public health is managed through prevention and sanitation programs, centered on improving the quality of drinking water to reduce waterborne diseases; there is a health post. Transportation in La Majada is variable; although there are routes that allow vehicle access for transporting goods and people to the municipal seat, the condition of the unpaved roads is affected during the rainy season, hindering regular transit. Local development in this community depends on the management of basic infrastructure projects and access to sustainable water resources to mitigate vulnerability to prolonged droughts that affect the area.
