The sound of excitement filled the air at INED San Jacinto, High School shared the same building with the José Angel Palma school for the afternoons. As our team arrived with a delivery that would transform how students learn. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we were able to provide essential desks to this dedicated school in the urban area of San Jacinto, Chiquimula. For too long, students had been making do without proper seating and workspace, limiting their ability to focus and engage fully with their studies. As we unloaded each desk, teachers and students gathered around with genuine joy and anticipation. The principal shared how these desks would immediately improve the learning environment, giving every student a proper place to write, read, and collaborate with classmates. It's amazing how something as fundamental as a desk can represent so much hope the promise of better education, increased comfort during long school days, and a clear message to these students that their education matters. This delivery at INED San Jacinto is more than furniture; it's an investment in the bright futures these young minds will create for their community.

About the Community

The population is 1,037, according to the Ministry of Health. The urban area serves as the main administrative and service center for the region. Its economy is more diversified than that of the villages, based on formal and informal commerce, the provision of government services, and the receipt of remittances, although it maintains a strong connection to the collection and distribution of regional agricultural production. In the educational sphere, it concentrates the provision of secondary and vocational education (such as INED), receiving students from various rural communities seeking technical training. Healthcare is centralized at the local Health Center, which coordinates epidemiological surveillance and urban sanitation campaigns. Mobility is fluid compared to rural areas, with paved roads that facilitate the constant transit of motorcycle taxis and heavy transport vehicles connecting to the route to Chiquimula and Esquipulas. Current urban development focuses on the modernization of public buildings, solid waste management, and the improvement of school infrastructure to meet the growing demand of the urban student population.
