📅 Project Timeline

June 2026
In many rural areas, girls and adolescents face severe economic barriers and a profound lack of education regarding menstrual health. Without the resources to manage their cycles, many are forced into school absenteeism, while navigating unfair social stigma and unsafe hygiene practices. Thanks to your incredible support, we have implemented a sustainable, life-changing solution! By providing high-quality reusable supplies alongside educational workshops, this project empowers young women to understand and embrace their bodies. You have directly reduced the inequality gap and school absenteeism. Today, these young women have the autonomy and dignity to continue their education and daily activities without interruption, using resources that will last them for years. Thank you for investing in their futures and their dignity!

About the Community

The village of Tizubín, a key community in the municipality of San Jacinto, Chiquimula, is located in an area of mixed topography, combining productive valleys with hillsides in a hot, dry climate. With a total population of 2,324, its economy is predominantly agricultural, standing out as an important center for the cultivation of staple grains and, in specific sectors, for artisanal production and small livestock farming. In the educational sphere, Tizubín serves as a hub, with infrastructure for preschool, primary, and middle school levels, serving a diverse student population. The improvement of learning spaces and access to basic services are management priorities. Health is coordinated through preventative sanitation measures, with a critical focus on water security to mitigate the effects of drought in the Dry Corridor. Mobility is dynamic compared to other areas, as the village has access to routes connecting it to the main CA-10 highway, although the roads to its internal hamlets remain unpaved and seasonally damaged. Local development in Tizubín is focused on consolidating public infrastructure and strengthening community resilience to the climatic and economic challenges of the Chortí region.
